Christchurch Council wasting residents money because of their unreasonable behaviour
Today’s news that the appeal by Simons Development’s has been successful is good news for the future of Christchurch , and especially for jobs. It will allow the creation of new skilled job’s by Beagle Technology, and also the creation of retail jobs by Morrisons, as well as allowing a new and welcome retail presence to the area.
It beggars belief that this application was refused in the first place, given the clear benefit to a local employer, and in turn to the Towns economy.
The impact of the successful appeal however, will have implications for all of us. The unreasonable behaviour of the Council in refusing it (the very words of the Planning Inspector) has resulted in a financial penalty being imposed upon the Council.
This penalty will ultimately result in either reduced services or a higher Council Tax charge. The cost will be carried by all residents.
