I doubt wether this blog will be read by any Tory voter in the Christchurch constituency, but one can only hope. I have become so angry over the voting record of Christopher Chope MP for Christchurch, I feel i should let people know just what sort of man he is, Because I believe that even the most die hard Torys in Christchurch, Don’t really know him. One of his earliest statements in parliament in 1985 when he was MP for Southampton, Was!! (It is the 75th aniversary of the Wages council lets hope it is the year of the Abolition).
Now believe it or not the Wages council was brought about in 1909, by Sir Winston churchill, Who said! it was a national evil that any class of her Majesty’s Subjects should earn less than the living wage, But obviously as Mr Chope voted against the minimum wage, he thinks its perfectly acceptable for a employer to pay what ever they want, regardless on weather or not, it is enough to live on.It doesn’t make Economical sense either, because more money has to be paid from the state, to subsidize the low wage. But no doubt Mr Chope if he had his way would like ban Working tax credits.
HIS VOTING RECORD. Against raising benefits in line with prices. Voted against the Hunting ban. Voted very strongly for the Iraq war. Voted against the smoking ban. Voted to increase VAT. Voted against increased spending to create jobs for young people. Voted against tax rises for those earning over £150,000. Voted for the bedroom tax. Voted very strongly for the privatization of Royal Mail. Voted against measures to prevent climate change. Voted to increase tuition fees to £9,000.Voted against equal Gay rights. Voted strongly for ending financial support for 16 to 19 year olds in training or Education. Voted against slowing the rise in Rail Fares..
In July 2013 Chris Chope was one of four MPs who called for an alternative Queens speech, with 42 policys, which included bringing back the death penalty and conscription.
He also tried to stop the hillsborough Debate because he believed Debating MPs pension, was more important.
He also voted against restrictions on fees charged by letting agents, Further to this he recently stopped the debate, which would ban revenge evictions from unscrupulous landlords. And voted against the banning of wild animals in circuses
This is not the kind of man i want as my MP, AND I WOULD HOPE THAT MOST PEOP[LE WHO CARE FOR THIS COUNTRY AND ITS PEOPLE WOULD NOT WANT HIM EITHER.
